DC Collectibles Batman: The Animated Series Ra's Al Ghul

The Demon cometh.

This figure of  Ra's Al Ghul is based on his appearance from the episodes "The Demon's Quest" from Batman: The Animated Series. I would have preferred him to be in his green suit and tie which is how he often appears in. Still this isn't bad. I like the Batman-esque cape. I like how it drapes over the front of his body. It should be a little longer so that the lower, spread out portion touches the surface. The cape was made of rigid plastic. It has no flexibility. It restricts articulation, especially in the arms. The cape is removable. I was thinking of having Batman wear it but unfortunately he can't as his torso is bigger.

Here's Ra's without his cape. He's wearing what I'll call a swashbuckler attire for that shirt with the strings across the V neck. The strings were sculpted on. There's some nice wrinkle detail on his shirt. The shape of his arms look off. It shrinks very fast from the forearms onward and he has very small fists. They perhaps made it this way so the figure can fit in his cape. He's got a great head sculpt. They got the shape right and captured his likeness very well. He has a fiendish look about him, thanks in part to his eyes being blackened. The white streaks of his hair were painted on. Without the cape his neck looks a little long.

Accessories. He comes with a jackal mask, a pair of open hands, a pair of gripping hands, a stand and base. You'll notice that the hands switch out at the forearms instead of the at wrists. I'm really disappointed he did not come with a sword.

For the jackal helmet you need to plug off the default head first before putting it on. The masked head can be rotated just a bit. He cannot look up or down.

Articulation. He's got a dumbbell joint neck, ball hinge shoulders, swivel hinge elbows, forearm swivel, waist rotation, peg hinge hips, knee hinge, calf swivel and ankle hinge. He can look up well and down just a bit. Due to his torso his arms slant when raised forming a Y shape. Having no swivel hinge wrists is a bummer. But that's not as bad as having no ankle pivot. I can understand Commissioner Gordon not having them but for Ra's... it's disappointing. I hope this this not a sign of things to come.

Comparison shots.

The figure looks good. I'm disappointed he did not come with a sword and has no ankle pivot. Thanks for viewing!
