DC Collectibles DC Comics Icons Batman "Last Rites"

The first wave of DC Icons from DC Collectibles has arrived ushering in a new era of 6" scale DC Comics figures. Here's a look at the first figure, Batman.

The box type packaging is similar to other DC Collectibles lines. The figure and accessories display well in the big window. You will notice that the letter O of Icons will have different colours and logo from figure to figure.

Batman looks outstanding. I love the sculpt. I really like the musculature and proportions. Everything just looks so right. He's got a nice head sculpt. He wears a neutral expression which comes as no surprise. His face was painted. There's a little bleeding onto his cowl. The bat logo was very well painted on. There's some nice detail on his costume. There are wrinkles at the shoulders, mid-section and trunks. His belt is a separate piece made of a rubbery material. It was well sculpted and has good detail. The belt buckle was painted light gold. You might not be able to differentiate against the mustard yellow in the pics. There's some light gold wash on the pouches. Nice. His gloves and boots have gloss to them. I would have preferred them to be matte to go along with the rest of his costume. His cape was very well done. I love the shape and look of it. It's not too heavy and it doesn't weigh him down.

Accessories. He comes with an extra pair of gripping hands, a left hand holding a zip line and two Batarangs. He can hold the Batarangs well in both hands.

I like the zip-line and all but it's something I imagine most of us won't use. I would have liked to have got a grapple gun instead, maybe Bat-cuffs or a mini flahlight.

Articulation. He's got a ball joint neck, ball hinge shoulders, bicep swivel, double jointed elbows, swivel hinge wrists, ball joint torso, ab crunch, ball hips, double jointed knees, calf swivel and ankle hinge and pivot. He can look down well but not up. The ball torso allows him to arch back quite a bit. The ab crunch is decent but I would have liked if he could bend forward more. He can do the side splits very well. I think he could do with some thigh swivel. Overall the articulation is good.

Comparison shots. We already knew he would be smaller than most other DC Collectibles figures. But I didn't expect him to be this small. There goes the thought of integrating the figures from the line with DC Universe Classics. And we can forget about having them face-off with Marvel Legends.

This is a great figure. I'm just disappointed about its size. I was really hoping to finally have Marvel and DC face-off properly. Oh well. Thanks for viewing!
